Do you watch your paychecks disappear just a few days after getting them? Are you sick of feeling financially strapped and drowning in debt? Having a side hustle can help reduce financial stress and help you catch up and get ahead.
3 Benefits of a Side Hustle:
1. Extra source of income - Whether you're paying bills, deleting debt, or stashing it away; Extra cash can bring peace of mind.
2. Flexibility - You can side hustle whenever you want! You determine your schedule. You're the boss.
3. Reduces Stress - This is the main topic I'm going to discuss below.
How Having A Side Hustle Reduces Stress:
A recent Gallup poll shows 70% of people don't like their job... 70%! I don't fall into this category, and I don't want you to, either. However, if you are a member of The 70% Club, having a side hustle can help break up the routine of the daily 9-5 grind.
Having a side hustle you're passionate about is exciting! Being excited or looking forward to something naturally reduces stress. You know that once you're finished working hard at your full-time job, you can go home and pursue your passion while getting paid for it.
Obviously, the extra money helps. It's why most people who side hustle, have one in the first place. It is important to have more than one source of income. Having more than one source of income provides a sense (and cents) of security. If you have a full-time job and a good side hustle, you should be feeling good! On the contrary, God forbid, if something happened at your full-time (or part-time) job, you would already have additional sources of income. While most side hustles can't replace the income of your full-time job (some certainly can!), they can provide a thin blanket of security during a professional transition. Having security brings peace of mind; having peace of mind reduces stress.
The main reason I side hustle is to help others.
If I can make one person say, "that's a good point", I consider that a successful side hustle. I currently have a demanding full-time job and three side hustles. My wife and I deliver packages with Amazon Flex. We get paid ($18-25/hr.) to deliver happiness wrapped inside brown boxes. I also design T-Shirts, tanks, and hoodies on Teespring-- but I haven't sold a single shirt to someone other than family. It's not exactly a money-making side hustle yet, but if someone at least laughs at one of my designs-- success!
My third side hustle, and the one I'm most passionate about, is the SullySideHustle Blog. I haven't been paid a single penny for it yet. However, I don't consider that a fail at all. I do this to help others. As you know, there's a lot of negativity and division in today's world. If I can help make someone smile or teach him or her something, I've accomplished my goal. It makes me want to keep doing it. Feeling motivated and accomplished naturally reduces stress.
These are the reasons why I side hustle. Now it's your turn!
